Who are you?
Like me, you’re a high-masking, late-diagnosed woman with Asperger’s/Autism.
You don’t fit the typical ‘Asperger stereotype’. Yet, you’ve known all your life that something was different for you. You’ve learned to make the best of it. You’re mostly successful in masking this difference and trying to fit in.
But this comes with a tremendous cost in energy and confidence – a cost that others don’t see, and you don’t count.
What we have to offer is a way to make living with Asperger’s easier. Instead of putting your energy into masking and trying to fit in, you follow what’s effortless for you.
How we can help:
Courses & Counselling
Courses
The courses offer knowledge about Autism and Asperger’s. They highlight common characteristics and common challenges. Above all, they are meant to offer insight into your unique challenges and talents, as well as practical and doable steps for you to take.
The result of every course is that you’ve tackled a challenge and that you’re able to make your life a little easier.
To make it even easier, individual support is available in the form of counselling.
Counselling
We offer counselling conversations. Counselling is a way to work through the process of what living with Asperger’s means for you. They are conversations with someone who shares your experience and is also experienced in counselling people. We listen to you, to your story. What it did to you. What you don’t want any more, and what you do want. Next, we focus on your capabilities, and how you can live easier with Asperger’s.
These conversations result in specific counsel on:
- What to do,
- How to do it,
- What you need,
- Providing the basics,
- Supporting the learning.
The outcome is that you discover how to interact with people in a manner that suits you and your needs, and that also leads to the results you need in that situation.
This will make your living with Asperger’s easier. Not in the future, but right now. And with growing confidence in your abilities.
What’s it like?
We find the approach that works for you:
- Define easy things to do (and to let go)
- Explore what works for you
- Focus on what is doable and immediately improves your life
- Make certain you can repeat what is easier.
We offer a process of, usually, three to five counselling conversations (more or less, as required). The conversations are online. Together, we’ll find the way it works best for you (e.g. when to take breaks or the timing of when to meet). Usually, each conversation takes about an hour and a half and involves some written feedback and specific advice about what to do and what to let go. ‘About’: because they can be longer or shorter, as needed.
No risk guarantee
You will not be alone on this journey. We guide you along the way towards the goal you set. It’s our job to add ‘living easier with Asperger’s’ to the conversations (and to make it happen). We explore the next steps and assist you in finding the confidence to implement them. When, after our initial conversation, you decide this is not for you, there’s a no-questions-asked refund.
Counselling, not therapy
These conversations are not therapy and do not replace therapy. We offer counselling conversations and present you with the tools and skills to live with Asperger’s.
Perhaps you may find that there are issues that do require therapy. In that case, these conversations will prepare you to find the right therapist and formulate the questions you want to address and what the outcome ought to be. This enables you to brief the therapist with your specific issues and wishes.
Price
Each conversation of 90 minutes (one and a half hours), plus the written feedback, costs €150.
